Protect Your Home During The Holidays
Your homes and their contacts matter to you and you do things to protect your home. The contents of our homes also matter to
people that have no right to them. So they break into our houses and take what
they want.
That’s especially true during the holidays when there’s the
extra attraction of having the Christmas tree and gifts under the tree. You
want to protect your home and it’s contents.
Protect Your Home During The Holiday
Protect Your Home During The Holidays Things You Can Do
1. Leave your outside lights on 24 hours a day. This will
help protect your home. Many people turn their outside lights on when they
leave and turn them off when they return home. That makes it easier for
somebody watching the house to know when you’re gone. Also the light itself tends to discourage the
criminal element.
2.To protect your home don’t leave packages where they can
be seen from a window.
3. Don’t announce
your travel plans. Don’t post them on social media. The criminals look for
things like this. If you want to share your vacation wait until after you’ve
returned then make it clear you’re home. This is another way to protect your
home.
4. Make sure your home’s entry points are secure. This is an
additional way to protect your home.
5. Be aware of your surroundings. When you’re coming home
from shopping, if possible, close your garage door before you take your
packages out of your car. Also make sure you weren’t followed home.
6. To protect your
home be extra careful about looking doors and windows at night and when you
leave the house.
7. Be careful when
someone you do not know comes to your door.
8. When you leave the house have an inside light visible
from the street on.
9. Also have a radio or television on. You want the house to
look and sound occupied.

10. If you’re going away overnight ask someone you know and
trust to get the mail and the pape
11. Get a security system and use it. This is one of the
best things to do to protect your home.
12. Trim shrubs and trees back so there are fewer places for
burglars to hide.
Protect Your Home During The Holidays
I have had places that I lived in broken into twice. It was
not fun coming home to that either time.
One time I had drawers emptied like they were looking for something but
very little was taken. They probably got scared.
Another time I had a beautiful ring that was taken. The
dollar value was not great but it had substantial sentimental value that could
not be replaced.
Each time it was as if my home was no longer my sanctuary. I
don’t care if your home is a trailer, a duplex, an apartment, a house or a
mansion. It is still your sanctuary. I
have spoken to others who have been burglarized who feel the same way.
So do what you can to protect your home.
